In order to make YouTube Shorts more popular, the YouTube company is currently working to add a watermark to the shorts following the TikTok service. In the coming weeks, this watermark will be added to the shorts downloaded from the desktop Studio hub service, and in the next few months, the YouTube company is working to add this watermark to the shorts downloaded from mobile.

For the past year, TikTok has dominated short-form videos. YouTube and Instagram, the other main competitors, introduced Reels and Shorts services respectively to compete with TikTok, but these have not yet been able to give TikTok real competition. Another special thing is that the videos published in this one service are also published in other short-form services. Users also have the facility to download TikTok videos if the creator allows them.

You can always see a watermark on videos downloaded by TikTok. It is not unusual to see some viral TikTok videos with that watermark on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. While this is good for users, competing services don't like it that much. Instagram has even developed an algorithm that identifies videos with watermarks that other platforms promote.

Thus, by adding a watermark to the shorts, YouTube hopes that if the shorts are shared on other services, it can gain publicity for its service. It seems that YouTube is paying a lot of attention to shorts, recently creators on YouTube have been allowed to make shorts using videos already in their library and re-upload them. Although short-form videos are very popular on the Internet, not many people are interested in how to implement them in every service. In particular, a change made by Instagram to show full-screen videos and photos on the home page caused a lot of displeasure on the internet.

This change was withdrawn by Instagram due to the backlash from users. Although we cannot say exactly how long this short-form video format has been around, it can become extremely popular and disappear after a while, as Vine did many years ago.
