The Problem with the EV and the Future. Will the future of transportation be electric?

Lightyear 0

As you have already seen and heard, various types of electric vehicles are being produced in the world. Also, the use of such electric vehicles is also increasing rapidly. As we all know, Elon Musk's Tesla company is one of the top electric vehicle manufacturers. Will all transportation be electric in the future with electric scooters, bikes, and cars?

If we look first, we have been using fuel for transportation for so long. There is almost no country that does not use fuel. Fuel is so important to us that if there is no fuel, transportation activities will be disrupted. With the economic crisis at this time, some countries are facing this fuel problem in a big way. Sri Lanka is an example of such a country.

Did you know that electric vehicles have been tested since the beginning of the use of internal combustion engines? And another special fact is that in a battery-powered vehicle, 75% of the battery energy is given to the vehicle as kinetic energy. But during the use of fuel, only 25% of the energy of the fuel is available as kinetic energy to the vehicle. Do you realize how much energy is wasted?

History of Electric Vehicles

I'd tell you another fun fact. In 1899 and 1900,  Electric Vehicles outsold fuel and coal-used vehicles. Also, by 1903, there were more electric vehicles in London than other vehicles. By 1916, there were even electric scooters in London. In 1835, Thomas Davenport produced a small-scale electric car. The main problem here is that the battery cannot be recharged. Then in 1898, the Porsche company produced the first electric car called Porsche P1. In 1899, Baker Motor Vehicle Company started manufacturing and selling electric vehicles. So you can understand how popular electric vehicles were even at that time. That trend was broken by Ford's Model T vehicle, which runs on very low cost and fuel. Specially It should be remembered that Thomas A. Edison is a person who has done many great services in the history of electric vehicles.

1916, there were even electric scooters in London.

After that, various organizations tried to start the production of these electric vehicles and all those attempts failed. Finally, Tesla is able to focus the world's attention on electric vehicles again. After that, companies like Lucid Air and Rivian also enter this electric vehicle competition. At present, companies like Ford and Honda are gradually turning to the concept of electric vehicles.

Future Solution - Solar Electric Vehicle

Our topic is what will be the electric vehicles of the future. These electric vehicles also have some problems. So these electric vehicles also have to indirectly use energy such as fuel. That is when electricity is obtained during battery charging. Electricity generation is still mostly done using fossil fuels. Another major problem is that charging stations are not available everywhere. Also, if we are using fuel, we can fill up the tank in a few seconds. But in an electric vehicle, it takes some time to fully charge the battery. Even if you say a certain time, you usually have to wait for about 6 hours.

So the newest concept in the world is Solar Electric Vehicles. Lightyear 0 is the latest Solar Electric Vehicle that is about to come to the fore. There is a double-curved solar area of 5 square meters. Also, the design of this vehicle is made to minimize the resistance from the wind and give the vehicle the ability to travel a long distance. The special thing about this is that this vehicle can generate 70km of solar power when the sun is shining. But there is a big problem with this Lightyear 0 vehicle. It's about the price. This will cost only $250,000. So that's a pretty big price. On average, a Tesla vehicle can be purchased for $50,000 or less. Anyway, this is a concept. This company says that the price will decrease further when it enters the market in the future.

The world has moved beyond electric vehicles to solar electric vehicles. So will the future of transportation be non-electric? Comment your opinion too.
