Nothing Phone (1) is the latest that has taken the smartphone world by storm.

     Carl Pay, who left OnePlus as a co-founder in 2020, is starting this company called Nothing. He has done so well in this new brand that these days many people are talking about the Nothing brand whether they like it or not. It's like we were all talking about only one person for a while.

According to Carl, the reason why people could not bring them to Android and go to iPhone is because of the unique design, UI/UX feeling, and new innovations in this iPhone. At one point I wonder if they did this to make fun of the iPhone. Anyway, he is trying to give a big competition to Apple and send this to many people.

Specifications of Nothing Phone (1).

     So if we talk about the specifications of this phone, it is powered by a Snapdragon 778G Plus Chipset. Also, this is a special feature that comes in two RAM models 8GB and 12GB, and two storage models 128GB and 256GB. This Nothing Phone (1) contains a 6.55in 120Hz FHD+ OLED screen. So there is nothing strange to talk about OLED displays. You can see clear views through this. The Nothing OS specially created for the Nothing Phone with Android 12 works as the operating system of this phone. It also has a 50MP main camera, an ultrawide camera, and a 16MP selfie camera. This phone supports 5G, e-SIM, Wi-Fi 6E, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.2. But a little shortcoming is that it has IP53 water resistance (splash resistant) facility.

     So, as I mentioned before, at one point I think that I chose a design like this to make fun of the iPhone. Anyway, this phone looks like an iPhone. But no iPhone is like this. What did it say?

     Usually, when a phone company creates its first product, they use a unique design. But this Nothing company has designed their first phone completely targeting Apple's Unique Design. I have no knowledge about the legal background there. Let's see if Apple will do anything special for this. In any case, the unique design and unique feeling of this iPhone is the main reason why the customer base cannot be stopped from switching from Android to Apple. So with the price of this phone, even iPhone users have a reason to switch to this phone.

     Nothing Phone (1) is available in White and Black color variants. This is a normal-sized phone. To be exact, the iPhone "Max" is the same size as the smartphone. It is also lighter than the iPhone 13 Pro. You know that the iPhone is made of stainless steel. But this phone is made of aluminum. That's why the weight has decreased so much. Both the front and back of the Nothing Phone (1) are covered with Gorilla Glass 5.

     Everything is fine on the phone. A small problem lies in the IP53 water resistance rating. Even if it withstands a little rain and moisture, it is a problem if it gets submerged in water.

The newly released Glyph Interface

     Now we come to the best part. This transparent back is the reason why this phone looks better than all other phones. The back of this phone is designed to give a futuristic look. A LED panel of only 900 lights has been placed on this transparent back. This is called the Glyph interface. This Glyph interface acts as a charging level indicator while charging and highlights around the charging pad during wireless charging. Also, when a notification comes, when the phone rings, this light system works to the tune of the ringtone or the vibrate pattern. Another great thing is that when using the back camera, it can be used as a fill light. This is really worth it. You can increase or decrease the brightness of these Gryph lights as you like.

     When talking about wireless charging, I remembered something. The wireless charging pad is in the middle of the back. Like the Apple logo in the middle of the back, they have not forgotten to put a logo.

The chipset

     The Nothing Phone 1 device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus chipset. In general, the operations of the phone are very smooth. I can assure you from personal experience that there is no heat or lag even if you run several apps at the same time causing a big impact on the CPU.

The display

     Its display is a 6.55" AMOLED FHD+ Display. It has 10+ HDR and 1 billion colors. Also, the refresh rate of this display is 120Hz. You can see the same bezels around this display. It also contains an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Nothing OS

     The operating system of Nothing Phone (1) is Android 12. Therefore, Play Store and Google software are all included here. This Nothing OS is icing on top of Android. Just like Samsung's OneUI and Xiaomi's MIUI.

     This is very similar to stock Android. So this is very similar to the Pixel UI. However, Nothing OS has some good features. Nothing includes widgets with unique pixelated style and some applications like sound recording with unique features. You will feel that the Sound Design is also different from other phones.

The Camera Setup of Nothing Phone (1).

     Here, a 50MP main camera sensor and another 50MP ultra-wide camera sensor have been used for the Dual Back Camera setup. That main sensor is called Sony IMX 766. The main camera sensor of the Xiaomi 12 is the same. It has optical image stabilization and electric image stabilization facilities.

     As Carl Pei said in the launching event, Smartphones have a quad back camera setup, but apart from the main camera sensor, other sensors are made with low-quality sensors that are difficult to work properly. But instead, their decision to use 2 quality sensors for the back camera setup is really good. Also, they have given a good 16MP camera as the selfie camera sensor.

Audio

     Stereo speakers can give a very high sound and can get a clear output even at higher volumes. But the small earpiece speaker is not recommended. Happily, there is support for a wide range of Bluetooth codecs for wireless audio.

The battery

     Nothing Phone (1) has a 4500mAh standard battery and it supports 33W fast charging. Once it is fully charged, you can use normal apps for 15 to 17 hours. But it varies depending on the software that runs it. In gaming, the battery drains quickly. Under 33W fast charging, the smartphone will be charged 50% in 30 to 35 minutes. Reverse wireless charging is 15W. Even if you find a USB Type C cable with this, you won't find a charger adapter.

value

     Actually, the Nothing Phone (1) is not just a fashion statement. Some features will have to be reduced to reach such a price. But when compared with the Snapdragon 8 Gen chipset, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 778G+ chipset here works at a good level, even though it is not the best. Even the base model has enough RAM and storage. Meanwhile, features like wireless and reverse wireless charging as well as the Glyph interface make it a great value device for the price of $480.
