Sony has released the Sony PS5 during the 2020 holiday season. In February 2021, Sony confirmed that it was developing the latest version of the PlayStation Virtual Reality headset and controllers for the PS5. At the CES 2022 press event, Sony confirmed that the official name for this headset is PlayStation VR2.

What is PlayStation VR2?
The PlayStation VR2 is a Virtual Reality Headset that will be an update to the 2016 PSVR made for the PS4. If you have not already heard, Sony has released their next-generation console PS5 in late 2020. Therefore, this new headset will work well with Sony's PS5.
We have some of the best specs in the PlayStation currently available consoles. Therefore, it is believed that they have been greatly improved for VR as well. Sony has confirmed that the PSVR 2's resolution and field of view to tracking and input will all be improved compared to the current PSVR for the PS4.
New PlayStation VR Controllers and Headset Design
The official name of the controllers in the PlayStation VR2 is PlayStation VR2 Sense. Around March 2012, Sony gave us an idea of this "Orb" controller. It has more natural finger-tracking technology, haptic feedback, and Dual Sence-like adaptive triggers with enhanced ergonomics. These combinations are naturally very important for controlling computer games.
Analog Sticks are a feature of these new controllers. It was not available in PSVR Controllers before. Early PSVR controllers did not have the ability to control virtual movement but were limited to playing on a single platform. This issue has been resolved in PSVR 2.
At CES 2022, Sony revealed more information about controllers. The right controller has a PS button, the Options button, the Circle and Cross buttons, the R1 and R2 buttons, and the Right Stick / R3 button. The controller has a PS button, along with the Create button, the Triangle and Square button, the L1 and L2 buttons, and the Left Stick / L3 button. This supports Bluetooth 5.1.
Sony first showed the headset on its blog site on February 22, 2022. The new headset will largely miss the black and white color scheme and boxy design of the older product.
The Japanese company claims that the new headset has a lens adjustment dial, a slight reduction in weight, haptic feedback, and ventilation to prevent fogging in the lens. The headset contains thousands of small PlayStation symbols.
What can PlayStation Virtual Reality 2 do?
There are many rumors about PSVR 2. Most of them were confirmed by Sony at CES 2022. Here are some confirmations from Sony as well.
Improved Graphic and Smarter Rendering.
The headset has an HDR resolution of 2000 * 2040 per eye and an OLED display with a 110-degree field. Sony has also confirmed that CES 2022 will have 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rates.
Rendering smarts are set to include flexible scaling resolution and foveated rendering, both tasked with redistributing computing power based on a user's viewing direction and eye position. This will reportedly result in better overall performance. Sony has also confirmed that there will be integrated cameras in the PlayStation VR2's headset so that a player's movement can be used in a game without the need for any external camera.
Reduction of motion sickness
If you've ever used a PSVR or other similar VR headset, you may have experienced motion sickness. Closing the gap between the virtual experience and your physical world can sometimes be a daunting experience.
Sony filed for a motion sickness reduction patent in 2019 to improve the VR experience for players. The main goal of this patent seems to be to seamlessly connect what the player sees in the game and feels in real life. Patents are never an official guarantee that a feature will be added, and I hope this will be the case. Reducing motion sickness allows players to have a more immersive and fun experience that can last longer than a traditional VR experience.
A recent specification leak from a private developer conference suggests that the headset uses a "rotating motor" for haptic feedback. This is believed to further reduce motion sickness in the sport.
At CES 2022, Sony announced that the PlayStation VR2 would include headset feedback and would actually include a built-in motor. The motor creates vibrations when needed in a VR2 game for a more immersive experience. Sony gave a few examples of how this works, giving players the ability to "feel the high pulse of the character in stressful situations, the movement of objects near the character's head, or the thrust of a vehicle as the character moves fast."
Sony claims to be using the Tempest 3D AudioTech on the PlayStation VR2 PS5 to make the game feel even more immersive. The headset will also be set up for eye tracking, so players can "interact more intuitively in new and lively ways".
Finger sensors
Another patent suggests that finger sensors could play a role in the new PSVR 2. This patent is different from the one mentioned above. Instead, it covers fingerprint sensors that can determine which user is playing as well as the distance between controllers.
If you can paint a Wii controller, it looks very similar but has slightly different features. Like the Wii controller, the controller has a safety strap for your wrist and will be a vertical controller that fits easily in your hand. The upper bouts featured two cutaways, for easier access to the higher frets. So when you hold the controller, your fingers naturally cover the sensor.
Wireless technology

How much does PSVR 2 cost?
Widespread speculation about how much PSVR 2 will cost ranges from $ 499.99 to $ 799.99. The original PSVR launched at $ 499.99 but has dropped significantly since then. You can now buy a PSVR starter bundle for around $ 200, but it took a few years to settle for that price.
