Apple has introduced ability to use Face ID even when wearing face masks.

Apple FaceID

Apple recently released iOS 15.4 beta 1 for developers and public beta users. With this edition, Apple has come up with the essential feature that many iPhone users have been waiting for.

This iOS 15.4 beta 1 version comes with the ability to use Face ID with Face Mask. However, Apple has stated that this new feature is the safest Full Face Recognition, although it allows the use of Face ID with Face Mask. "Face ID is most accurate when it's set up for full-face recognition only. To use Face ID while wearing a mask, iPhone can recognize the unique features around the eye to authenticate." Here the TrueDepth System detects the unique features of the area around the eyes to identify your face if you are wearing a mask. Also, if you use the Apple Watch Unlock feature, the TrueDepth System will only check if you are wearing a mask, and if you are wearing an Apple Watch, the iPhone will be unlocked without any further tests. This version also allows you to use the Face ID feature for Apple Pay and third-party apps, which allow you to use those apps even when you are wearing a mask. This edition also allows spectacle wearers to use the Face ID feature while wearing the Face Mask. However, Face ID is not supported with Face Mask for sunglasses. "Using Face ID while wearing mask works best when it's set up to recognize each pair of glasses you wear regularly. Face ID with a mask doesn't support sunglasses." This feature is only available on newer models released by Apple from the iPhone 12 Series and can be used on both the iPhone 12 Series and iPhone 13 Series devices. However, Apple has not yet commented on whether other devices with Face ID will be able to access X, XR, XS, and iPhone 11 devices.
